What are Mitsui's Forests ?
Mitsui owns "Mitsui Forests," covering a total area of approximately 44,000 hectares in 74 locations across Japan, from Hokkaido to Kyushu.
Its area is equivalent to approximately 70% of Tokyo's 23 wards and 0.1% of Japan's land area. We have established forest management policies, protected and carefully nurtured the forests, and utilized the blessings of the forests in a multifaceted manner for the environment, society, and economy.
Mitsui's forests absorb 160,000 tons of CO2 per year, storing 10 million tons. Mitsui aims to reduce CO2 emissions from its entire business to zero by 2050.
We will continue to turn our attention to the current state of the global environment and work sincerely to do what we can to ensure that we can coexist with society for the long term.
▼What is CLOTH-APP GREEN?
The products are divided into six categories: BIO (fabrics that return to the soil), OCEAN (fabrics that return to the ocean), LOOP (a zero-waste apparel revolution), BOTANICAL (fabrics that do not use petroleum), PET (fabrics made from PET bottles), and NONDYE (fabrics that value water), and approach environmental issues through the materials used in clothing.
Products that use textiles from the CLOTH APP GREEN series have tags that indicate the materials used and their characteristics, and these can also be viewed online.
In addition, a portion of the sales of these products is donated to reforestation in Mitsui & Co.'s forests. By planting seedlings in untouched areas where trees have been lost due to animal damage and other reasons, and nurturing them over the course of years or even decades, we can shift our customers' awareness of environmental conservation to Mitsui & Co.'s forests, and work together to improve the global environment.
